More information about our brilliant wool and why is does not cost the earth.
Kiwi sheep have a haircut each year and on average produce just over 5kg each, by the time that wool is washed, turned into wool and tufted, about 3.4kg makes it into carpet
Synthetic carpets, like Nylon (Polyamide) or Polyester, are made from oil. Some plastic carpets use a percentage of plant based polymer which is kind of renewable, but they are far from ideal and will not offer the comfort and durability of wool. Wool is the only commonly used carpet fibre that does not break down into micro-plastics that harm our environment and our oceans.
Even some plant based polymers do not biodegrade in the cold water.
