THE FARM

Te Awa Awa has been farmed by Richard and Becks for the past nine years. Here, they run 3000 texel/coopworth cross bred ewes and replacements, aiming for high yielding and efficient animals on their all grass fed operation. The farm is successfully managed with the help of casual labour two days a week.

THE TE AWA AWA WAY OF WORKING

All wool is sold via Wools of New Zealand under their farm name, Te Awa Awa which has been accredited to the Responsible Wool Standard which demonstrates Te Awa Awa’s progressive approach to sustainable and ethical farming. The farm itself is run based on a simple system which uses the strengths and weaknesses of both the property and the area’s climatic conditions.

ENVIRONMENTAL APPROACH

At Te Awa Awa, they have a strong commitment to running a sustainable farming operation. This was recognised with them becoming the Greater Wellington Regional supreme winners of the 2018 Ballance Farm Environment Awards.
